The Warmia and Mazury Special Economic Zone (Warmińsko-Mazurska Specjalna Strefa Ekonomiczna S.A. or WMSSE) is one of the 14 economic zones in Poland, established with a view to support new investments and issue decisions (on behalf of the Minister of Economy) on granting aid for new investments under the Polish Investment Zone instrument.
Currently, we operate in 19 counties (poviats) of the Warmińsko-Mazurskie Voivodeship and 11 counties of the northern Mazowieckie Voivodeship.
Our area extends over north-eastern Poland by the Lagoon of Vistula, close to the European Union’s eastern border (bordering the Kaliningrad Oblast from the north). The area is served by two airports: Warszawa/Modlin and Olsztyn-Mazury.
Maximum state aid
The primary benefit of investing in the Warmia and Mazury Special Economic Zone is that it offers companiesthe highest levels of state aid available in Poland. This means that investors can get CIT or PIT refunds of up to 70% of eligible costs.
25 years’ experience
Warmińsko-Mazurska Specjalna Strefa Ekonomiczna S.A. (Warmia and Mazury Special Economic Zone) was established on 19 February 1997. Across our 25 years of operation, we have supported almost 340 investment projects covering a total of PLN 6.2 billion investment funds. These investments have led to the creation of around 16 thousand new jobs.
Our investors range from micro-entrepreneurs, family businesses with single-digit employment and investing few hundred thousand zlotys, to global corporations employing several thousand employees each and making investments of several hundred million euro (such as Michelin, LG, IKEA, EGGER and Heinz Glass). The investments are split almost evenly in terms of origin – 51% of the capital is Polish.
